Pokémon Celebrations

If you’re a frequent reader of our blog, you know that we’ve mentioned Pokémon's 25th Anniversary on more than one occasion. We even posted a short listicle not so long ago that featured the special 25th Anniversary gear that we have available on the site. Since then, we’ve been on the lookout for updates and the latest news surrounding Pokémon's plans to make this year an extra special one, especially with it quickly coming to a close.

We already know that their last expansion for 2021 is coming out sometime in November, but before that, there’s another important expansion that is set to release tomorrow. Yes, we’re talking about the Celebrations expansion!

Celebrations

There’s been a lot of preparation and anticipation for October 8th, and the day is finally here! Celebrations is a special set that will contain 25 holographic cards in the main set, along with 25 reprinted (subset) cards, all of which feature a rare holo pattern that can only be found in this specific set. Unlike other expansions that have come before, the Celebrations set will not be attainable through booster packs or boxes. So, if you want it, you’ll have to get through specially branded products.

Pokémon has revealed a few featured cards that will be a part of this set, along with the collections as well. The featured cards include:

  • Charizard
  • Surfing Pikachu - VMAX
  • Umbreon
  • Professor Research

Those cards will look familiar to you, but they have one feature that separates them from their original prints: they have a special 25th Anniversary logo printed on them, just like the other Anniversary gear that has been released so far this year. The foil on each of those cards will be a bit different as well.

This expansion will contain 12 promo cards, too, such as Lance’s Charizard Dragapult, Dark Sylveon, and more. You can see all of those featured cards and the collections on Pokémon's official website. I also found a page that lists all the cards in each set, coupled with the collections. I thought you would want to see it, that way you can have a better idea of what to expect when the expansion drops tomorrow. You can get to that site/list by clicking HERE

Don’t forget to give our Pokémon collection another look while you’re here. And a word of advice, if you’re planning on purchasing the Celebrations expansion, I suggest you move fast. The demand for these cards is expected to be through the roof, making them tougher to obtain the longer you wait. Just something to keep in mind.

Let me know if you already put in your pre-order or if you plan on purchasing the set over the weekend.

Until we meet again,

Vince The Prince
