Well, if you read through some of my previous posts, you’ll see that I’ve reviewed Star Wars video games, board games and books. Now, since I’ve taken over this mobile phone game series, I thought that this would be an excellent opportunity to delve a little deeper. In this post, I will give you a brief review of probably one of the best mobile Star Wars games in the galaxy - Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes!
Before I go any further, I would like to give a shout out to Mitch for bringing this game to my attention. After reading my earlier Star Wars content (and my Marvel Strike Force review), Mitch thought that I would enjoy playing/reviewing this game, and sure enough, he was right! Much like Marvel Strike Force, this game allows you to play and do battle with your favorite Star Wars Characters!
So, let’s make the jump to lightspeed...once again!
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
What is it?
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (2015) is a mobile combat, RPG from EA that is currently available on both Android and iOS platforms. It’s often been described as a collectible game as well, since it allows you to collect and play as your favorite Star Wars heroes, villains and bounty hunters. So, if you ever wanted to see a lightsaber duel between Kylo Ren and Yoda or a blaster battle between Han Solo and The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes gives you that opportunity. Whether you have a favorite character in the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, the newest trilogy, the animated series, or a branch off saga, this game has them all!
But, the wide variety of characters featured in the game are not limited to just the abilities that are shown in the movies, TV series and other games. Instead, Galaxy of Heroes allows you to enhance the abilities, attacks and powers of each character that you collect. Imagine being able to make Darth Vader more powerful or Chewbacca even stronger. Using these different characters and abilities, the game allows you to assemble your own unique team of heroes or villains and do battle in some of the most legendary locations in the galaxy!
What did you think?
Let me just say that I love games like this. I love the idea of building a team of iconic characters and battling against another team filled with other iconic characters. Galaxy of Heroes was released back in 2015, and I only wish that I found it sooner. Again, with so many great heroes/villains, locations and abilities to choose from, this game is by far one of the best Star Wars mobile games available.
I’m sure most avid mobile gamers would agree that the best kinds of games are those that offer you a fair amount of freedom and depth, which is exactly what this game does. For example, players have the option to choose their path and either participate in the Light Side campaign or the Dark Side campaign. You can also participate in daily challenges/events, online PVP battles, championships and much more. The gameplay itself is smooth, fun, and quite challenging, especially when you find yourself battling against some higher-level teams.
Overall, I thought this game served its purpose in keeping me entertained and free from boredom, which is something that I have been struggling with lately. Thanks to Galaxy of Heroes, I now have another outlet that gives me my much-needed Star Wars gaming fix!
Would you recommend this game?
Definitely! If you enjoy more strategic, turn-based games, like Marvel Strike Force, I would highly recommend that you try this game ASAP. And if you’re a Star Wars fan, you should not let another day go by without downloading it. Galaxy of Heroes has a way of giving you something to look forward to, especially during the day when you find yourself on a lunch break or just trying to make a boring day go by quicker. And since we’re currently living in some rather unique circumstances (2020 living), having something to make time fly faster is not such a bad thing. So, the next time you’re in the Google Play Store or App Store, be sure to check out Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.
