Yu-Gi-Oh! has two new Egyptian God decks coming out this summer

I know that it’s been a while since we last had a Konami/Yu-Gi-Oh! Post, but given this latest update, I think it was worth the wait! If you remember, Yu-Gi-Oh! was one of my favorite TCGs back in the day (and even now) and each new deck would take a front seat to everything else...except for maybe Pokemon. It’s funny how that feeling has a way of sticking with you after so many years. So, when I heard that two new decks were set to be released in the next few months, I felt like I just had to tell you about them. After all, it’s nice to have something to look forward to these days!

In this post, I’m going to tell you a little bit more about these decks, based on what’s been revealed so far, and what they will include. Afterward, I’d like to get your take on the two decks and what you think of them.

Let’s cover the details of the decks first!

These new Egyptian God decks are Slifer the Sky Dragon and Obelisk the Tormentor. According to multiple sources, the decks will cost $10 ($9.99 USD) each and feature a total of 40 different cards. Here’s a little breakdown of what each pack will contain:

  • 32 commons
  • 4 Ultra Rares
  • 4 Super Rares
  • 1 Deluxe Game Mat/Dueling Guide
  • 1 New Quick-Play Spell Card in each deck

  • The deck itself will include 1 Egyptian God Card and 5 new cards (4 unique new cards and 1 copy of Soul Crossing). By now, you’re probably curious about the backstory behind Slifer the Sky Dragon and Obelisk the Tormentor. I know I was when I first heard about them. Thankfully, Konami has given us some thorough descriptions of each deck monster, which was pretty cool of them to give us so early on prior to the release date. We’ll get to that in a little bit. For now, let’s find out what each monster can do!

These descriptions come straight from Konami and yugioh-card.com

Slifer powers up depending on how many cards you have in your hand, so this Deck uses Token-generating effects to help you gather the 3 required Tributes while using fewer cards from your hand. After you have Slifer on the field, power it up with cards that let you draw more cards, like the brand-new Thunderforce Attack! Based on Slifer’s signature attack, this Spell can destroy all your opponent’s face-up monsters at any time, but if you use it during your own Main Phase you can draw a card for each monster destroyed!

    Obelisk the Tormentor

Unleash the true power of Obelisk the Tormentor by Tributing 2 monsters you control and wipe your opponent’s monsters off the field! This Deck uses self-replicating monsters to provide Tributes and protect your Life Points as you get closer to drawing your Divine Beast. Obelisk’s own ability can crush your opponent’s monsters all at once, but throw in the new Spell Card, Fist of Fate, and you can negate a monster’s effect and destroy it without needing to Tribute. Activate during your own Main Phase and you can crush all your opponent’s Spells and Traps as well!

I don’t know about you, but after learning more about each of these monsters, I’m even more stoked for their release, which is set for June 11th. You can get more details on these two Egyptian God decks and their release by visiting yugioh-card.com.

Now that you know more about these decks, it would be cool if I got your thoughts on them. So, be sure to leave any comments or questions below. Also, if you come across any more valuable info between now and June, be sure to leave them for me in the comments as well!

    Until we meet again,
