WOTC unveils first Fortnite x MTG Crossover Secret Lair cards

We told you it was coming, and just last week, we got our first look at the cards that will make up this highly anticipated MTG x Fortnite Crossover! In case you didn’t see our previous post on this subject or are not subscribed to our Weekly Wave Newsletter, this crossover has been on our radar since fall 2021, and with only about a week to go until its official release, things are really heating up. To gear up the gaming community for this long-awaited crossover, Wizards of the Coast has chosen to reveal the cards (and the artwork) from both Secret Lair x Fortnite sets.

It all started with a supply drop that was sent out to several locations last week, one of which was the IGN headquarters. To their surprise, IGN realized that they had received two MTG secret lairs from WOTC upcoming Fortnite crossover. In each set, they found a small collection of awesome Fortnite-themed reprints. From there, news of this BIG reveal began to spread like wildfire.

Over the past week, stories, spoilers, images, and confirmed secrets (rumors) have been popping up all over the place, so much so that it’s been hard to miss. However, if you had a busy week and did happen to miss the details of this latest unveiling, here’s a refresher to bring you up to speed.

Right now, these two Secret Lair x Fortnite sets are made up of 12 cards. There are seven (7) in the first and five (5) in the second. The seven cards in the first set (Secret Lair x Fortnite) are as follows:

Secret Lair x Fortnite

  • Battle Bus (Smuggler’s Copter)
  • Battle Royale (Triumph of the Hordes)
  • Dance Battle (Dance of Many)
  • Supply Llama (Etherium Sculptor)
  • The Cube (Planar Bridge)
  • Shrinking Storm (Wrath of God)
  • Crack the Vault (Grim Tutor)

Here’s what each card in the Secret Lair x Fortnite set looks like:

Battle Royale (Triumph of the Hordes)
Dance Battle (Dance of Many)
Supply Llama (Etherium Sculptor)
The Cube (Planar Bridge)
Shrinking Storm (Wrath of God)
Crack the Vault (Grim Tutor)

The second set, called Secret Lair x Fortnite: Landmarks and Locations, contains the following five (5) cards, which are based on the various lands from Fortnite:

Secret Lair x Fortnite: Landmarks and Locations

  • Plains
  • Island
  • Swamp
  • Mountain
  • Forest

Here’s what those cards look like:

Island

Swamp

Mountain

Forest

We don’t about you, but we’re super impressed with these cards and can’t wait until they’re released next week. It’s also worth noting that IGN, and other sources, have confirmed that one secret card will be added to each set. Apparently, IGN knows some of the details, but has promised WOTC that they won’t reveal anything about them until the Secret Lairs are live.

The official launch is scheduled for 9 am PST on July 21st. If you’re familiar with Secret Lair drops, you know that they are only made available for a limited time…and this one is no different. So, if this is a Secret Lair that you’ve had in your sights since it was first announced, we suggest that you snag yours before they’re gone for good. And once they’re gone, they’re hard to find again!
