After years of reviewing and recommending some of the best tabletop gaming gear on the market, our favorite professor from Tolarian Community College has decided to put forth a special new deck box of his very own design. He’s calling it the Academic 133+ XL, and based on what we’ve seen of it so far, this deck box is primed to be one of the coolest out there.
The Professor is so passionate about this project that he has tapped two major sources to help him bring this dream deck box to life. First, to ensure that his design could be constructed just the way he imagined it, the professor felt he needed to partner up with a top-flight manufacturer. A renowned, reliable brand that’s been known to consistently craft and deliver premium protective gear that gamers swear by. Enter Gamegenic, a leading gaming gear supplier that has given gamers some of the best deck boxes and sleeves ever designed. Frequent visitors to our site should know all about Gamegenic products by now.
We have first-hand experience with Gamegenic’s many products, which is why we’re proud to have such a nice selection of their goods in our collection. Our experience with Gamegenic gear also tells us that The Professor couldn’t have picked a better partner to take on this project. After all, the design of the Academic 133+ XL is very specific and calls for a certain touch of magic, no pun intended, that only a few manufacturers possess.
After incorporating all the elements and requirements according to the professor’s specifications, Gamegenic was able to bring his dream deck box to life!
Fitted with two revolutionary drawers, an extra top compartment, a removable compartment acrylic divider, a removable flap, and capable of safely storing 133+ double-sleeved cards, the Academic XL is an impressive convertible case that all gamers can get behind. In fact, many have already shown their support for the professor’s vision through the Kickstarter campaign that’s been devoted to the project.
As I mentioned earlier on, the professor needed help from two key sources in order to make his dream deck box a reality. Gamegenic was one and Kickstarter is the other. The Kickstarter campaign to support the Academic was launched just last week on March 15th, with a set goal of $50,000. As of March 22nd, the goal has been surpassed with over $1.6 million in support and counting. And there are still 3 weeks to go.
April 14th is the last day of the campaign, and if the funds continue to roll in at this rate, that number can grow significantly, which is great news for both the professor and the backers who have put their orders in. In addition to the Kickstarter exclusive designs and add-ons that are available for the deck case, the professor is offering to thank those who have shown support with a variety of prizes that become unlocked with every goal reached. Here’s a breakdown:
$500,000 = A signed “Thank You” card to all backers
$750,000 = The Professor rocks a mustache during his YouTube videos
$1,000,000 = All backers receive a special wildcard token
$1,250,000 = The Professor explains how magnets work via a YouTube video
You can find a more detailed and colorful version of this list on the actual Kickstarter page, but that should give you an idea of what backers have to look forward to when the campaign is over. There are actually more open spots on that list that have not been given a reward yet, so it’s fair to assume that The Professor is expecting more than $1,750,000 in support, which we still have yet to reach. Fingers crossed.
If you haven’t done so already, you can visit the Academic 133+ XL Kickstarter page HERE. On that page, you will find EVERYTHING you need to know about the deck case and what’s included. There are even several videos that provide a breakdown of the box, including a reviewfrom The Professor himself.
I hope you enjoyed learning more about The Professor’s Academic 133+ XL Deck Box. Again, the campaign will be active on Kickstarter until April 14th, so there’s still time to show your support and put your name down for the deck box that every ‘student’ of the game is going to want!
