New Art Spotlight: February 2021

With the 28th day of February quickly approaching, we figured now would be best to release our monthly New Art Spotlight. As most of you know may already know by now, our New Art Spotlight (NAS) is our opportunity to select and highlight three arts from different designers within our vast artist community. Selecting only three each month is always tough, especially when we have so many arts in our collection. However, we think that you’ll be impressed by the arts that we’ve selected for ending this month on a high note.

Artist: Michael Whelan
For over 40 years Michael has illustrated book covers for authors like Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, and Brandon Sanderson.  His clients have included every major US book publisher.
Along the way, he’s earned 15 Hugo Awards, 3 World Fantasy Awards, and 13 Chesleys from ASFA, the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists.  The readers of Locus Magazine have named him Best Professional Artist 31 times in their annual poll and the Spectrum Annual of the Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art recognized him as a Grand Master in 2004. 
In 2009, he was inducted in the Science Fiction Hall of Fame, the first living artist to be named to a distinguished list that features such luminaries as H.G. Wells, Steven Spielberg, Rod Serling, and Ursula K. Le Guin.

Hook & Stylus is the Memphis-based handmade gaming arts and crafts studio featuring the work of John and Tamsen Henderson.  John provides his illustration and design skills while Tamsen lends her knitting and crocheting handiwork. John has most notably gained attention for a number of top posts on Reddit featuring his work, and has contributed his art to various fundraising efforts, a fact of which we are very proud!  Tamsen also made an entire human who we adore.
