Mobile Phone Game Review: Penguin Isle

Hey again! I’ve been churning out these mobile phone game reviews more and more frequently, and I was going to save this one for a later date, but I figured that a good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow! Plus, I just got through playing this game and figured that I should give you my short and sweet and review while it’s still fresh.

Penguin Isle is the name of the game, and I’ll admit, at first I didn’t know what to expect. But, after giving it some time, I found it to be quite enjoyable and relaxing. Now, I know that some of you are all about games that have either fast-paced action or brain-teasing puzzles, but I thought it would be a good idea to switch gears and go with a more soothing/calming game for a change, much like the Monument Valley II title that we recently reviewed. I’m also factoring in the cold/winter element here as well, which fits in perfectly since the entire game takes place on a floating piece of ice (or iceberg if you want to get technical).

Again, I’m planning on keeping this review short and sweet. Let’s see how it goes!

Penguin Isle

What is it?

Released on both Android and Apple platforms back in 2019, Penguin Isle is a FREE chillout game created by the game publisher Habby. The game tasks players with the building an expansion of their own Penguin habitat, which happens to be on an iceberg, as I mentioned earlier. This can be done by creating new penguins and assigning each of them to a specific job, which includes fishing and farming. Each penguin and job can be upgraded through gold. The more gold you produce during each job, the more penguins you can create and control to help you evolve your habitat. The more penguins you have, the easier it is for you to produce.

Once your little ice island is at full strength, you can start adding to it and upgrading it with different kinds of penguins and features. Add a hot spring, a flower garden, an Antarctic base and even an amusement park. Remember, each job and location serves a purpose and bring you closer to your goal, which is to grow/maintain a happy, healthy habitat for your Penguins

What did you think?

As I said in the beginning, I thought this game was relaxing and easy to manage. The key to the tranquil feeling that it gives off lies in its calming music and great visuals. In fact, you can plug your phone/tablet into some speakers and chill out your whole household if you want. Although, I think you get the most out of it while wearing headphones. You’ll see what I mean when/if you download it.

Coupled with the music, the graphics in the game are beautiful and serene as well. Watching the cute penguins waddle around in the snow is probably my favorite part. In all, I like the control that you have over the game and all of the great features and creatures that come with it.

Would you recommend this game?

If you’re a penguin lover or just looking for something cool and calming to do to pass the time, then yes. I would recommend that you download Penguin Isle the next time you’re in the Google Play or App Store. I think now more than ever, we need games that are not only fun, but calming enough to make us forget about our problems for a few hours. And think that Penguin Isle is definitely one of those games!

So, have you played Penguin Isle yet? If so, be sure to leave me your thoughts and opinions on it in the comments below. If you haven’t...I still want to hear from you. Have you heard of this game before? Do you think you’re more likely to give it a try now or are you still on the fence? Sound off in the comment section.

Thanks for joining me once again in another fun review post!

Until we meet again,
