Black Panther DLC coming to Marvel's Avengers

When I first read this headline I immediately did the Wakanda salute, except I couldn’t do the battle cry properly because  I had guests sleeping over and I didn’t want to wake anyone. Yes, you could properly hear me howl, “WAKANDA FOREVER!” for miles. What can I say, I’m passionate, especially when it comes to my superheroes. With that said, you can imagine how psyched I am to have a Black Panther expansion coming to Marvel’s Avengers!

This news first came out back in mid-March and I’ve been refreshing my video game news page ever since. I’ve already watched the reveal trailer about 20 times (I’ll probably watch it again tonight), but that awesome 54 seconds worth will only tide me over for so long. If you haven’t seen it yet, click here and prepare to be wowed!

In this post, I’m going to quickly cover some of the details of this upcoming DLC and what we can expect from it. Plus, this isn’t the only DLC expansion coming to the game in 2021. We’ll talk a little bit about that later on. But, for now, let’s focus on the King!

First off, the name of this DLC expansion is titled Black Panther: War For Wakanda. Based on what I’ve seen in the trailer and read online, we can definitely expect some amazing gameplay and action in this expansion. Personally, I wouldn’t expect anything less since players can play as King T'Challa a.k.a. The Black Panther.

I can’t say much about the actual story of this DLC yet. If you watched the trailer you’ll know why. Heck, even Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have been pretty vague about it. All I can say is that it will have something to do with AIM and Monica Rappucini teaming up with Klaw to overtake Wakanda and steal the much sought-after Vibranium. As a result, T’Chall will call upon the Avengers to assemble and help him and his nation combat the evil forces looking to invade.

That’s pretty much all I/we know about the War for Wakanda DLC story. I like the fact that they are trying to build it up by not revealing too much too quickly, but sometimes you just need a little nugget every now and then to keep you satisfied. Heck, even the official release date isn’t known to us yet. As it says in the trailer, we can expect it some time, “Later this year”, which doesn’t tell us much at all.

However, Crystal Dynamics has given us the gift of future vision with this trailer as well. By that I mean they have revealed all of the DLC expansion set to come out this year. How? With their new, “Roadmap”, which you can see in the image below.

Of course, there are no specific dates in the Summer and Beyond section, especially for the Wakanda DLC, but I guess patience is a virtue...right? At least we have a lot to look forward to.

Let me know what you think of this DLC and if you hear any new info on it or any of the others set to release this summer or later on in the year.

Until we meet again,
