Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

MTG Modern Horizons II cards saved from landfill!

This is truly a treasure-to-trash-to-treasure story we thought you would enjoy. Scavenging in landfills can be dangerous and even illegal in some states, but one Reddit user, known only as LATIN0, was willing to take the risk. With that risk came a valuable reward in the form of six unopened pallets of Magic: The Gathering cards. Inside those boxes, LATIN0 found a trove of Modern Horizons II Booster Draft Boxes, which appeared to be in pristine condition.

MTG Landfill

After making the discovery, LATIN0 took to Reddit and let the entire community know about his Texas dump treasure hunt. From there, fans and passionate players began commenting on the find and determined that these packs, in total, could be worth around $250,000. Many also pointed out how rare and uncommon it is to find unopened MTG packs in a dump, especially with their resale value.

How the cards found their way to a real-life discard pile is a mystery, and probably will remain so. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure, but it’s hard to fathom how someone, somewhere thought these unopened MTG packs were trash-worthy.

No matter the how or the why, it’s nice to see that these MTG packs were finally rescued and will eventually find their way to a collector who will cherish them forever. We expect to see these Modern Horizons II Booster Draft Boxes pop up on eBay or another auction site sometime soon. Keep your eyes peeled.

Netflix’s Pokémon Concierge series!

The Pokémon company has been looking for a partner to stream their new stop-motion animated series, which they have titled: Pokémon Concierge. Since Netflix is by far one of the biggest and most renowned streaming services, that also presents Pokémon anime, this partnership comes as no surprise.

Thanks to a 25-second teaser and statements made by Netflix’s VP of content, Minyoung Kim, we know that Concierge will be set in a Pokémon resort. In this resort, we will find Pokémon guests and a concierge named Haru, who the story will focus on. Here’s the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet.

Pokémon Concierge

No dates or other details have been revealed yet, but at least we have something to go from and look forward to over these next few months. Coming soon can’t get here soon enough. When more info comes out, we’ll let you know when we can check in to the resort and check out Pokémon Concierge on Netflix.

The winner of our Valentine’s Day Art competition is…

After a February full of love and good fun, the Inked Gaming community has spoken and the winner of our Valentine’s Day Art Contest has been chosen. All month long, we’ve been encouraging our fellow gamers to vote for their favorite Valentine’s Day art. All three were specially designed by our talented team of in-house artists, who really made this V-Day about the two-winged, four-legged friends who show us love all year long.

The votes have been counted, and the winner of the contest is…Powered by Greens!

Powered by Greens

We were all about showing love to the pets this February, and our artists certainly did that with the stunning designs that they created for the competition. But, just as expected, we fell in love with all three, which is why we asked our customers to decide which one touched their hearts the most. While we were tallying the votes, we realized that this was going to be a close one. Actually, it was one of the closest we’ve seen.

All three designs were adored by our community, and the fact that it was such a close race made this one even more fun. Powered by Greens scurried ahead in the end, but Kitten Love and Round Boys deserve a round of applause as well. Again, the contest was super close, and the final results were decided by just a few votes. You are all winners to us!

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for our next edition of The Weekly Wave for more fun stories and updates!

Sincerely,

Inked Gaming
