Sweet, sweet, sweet VICTORY!!! That song has never left me, and now I’m going to be singing it in my head more than I did when I was a kid because now we actually have something to sing it to again.
As one of Nickelodeon’s most popular and adored characters of all time, SpongeBob will always be a part of any new Nickelodeon venture, especially when it comes to video games. That’s why I, and so many others, are so psyched about another Nickelodeon video game title that will be coming out sometime soon, hopefully, and it features Mr. SquarePants on center stage, so to speak.
It’s called SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. Here’s the announcement trailer that came out back in September:
You’ll probably be singing and humming that tune in your sleep. I know I have because I keep hitting the replay button. So, what did we learn about this new game during that awesome minute and a half trailer? Well, actually not that much. This trailer is only meant to tease and entertain, rather than inform. Even if you Google the title, you won’t find a lot of info. We don’t even know when to expect the Cosmic Shake. However, there have been a few details revealed that give us a better idea of what the game is all about.
The first bit of info that we know so far is more behind-the-scenes. Specifically, the team that has worked to bring this new game to life. THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp Studios have chosen to collaborate once again for this latest SpongeBob project, after having success with a previous game, titled: Battle for Bikini Bottom. Again, this is more background, behind-the-scenes info, but I thought it was worth mentioning since the two studios have already jumped in the water together once before.
According to the game’s official site, Cosmic Shake will give players the freedom to interact with some of their favorite characters, learn new dance moves, dress SpongeBob in different costumes, and even listen to a vast in-game playlist/soundtrack that will feature some of the best songs from the show. Yes, that includes Sweet Victory. Again, all of this information can be found on Cosmic Shake’s official site, which also includes this cute little synopsis of the game:
“Wish-granting Mermaid’s Tears in the hands of SpongeBob and Patrick… What could possibly go wrong?
Sure, the very fabric holding the very universe very together could come very undone, opening up portals into Wishworlds full of knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails. But that’s nothing everyone’s favorite Sponge can’t handle – with the right cosmic costume!
Everybody do the Cosmic Shake!”
The last piece of info that’s worth noting is which platforms SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be available on when it finally comes out, whenever that may be. I’m hoping for 2022, but that may be wishful thinking considering how many delays we’ve seen recently. The developers have let it be known that Cosmic Shake will be playable on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The PS4 one was probably obvious since the trailer was presented by PlayStation.
Let me know what you think of Cosmic Shake so far and when you think it will be released in the comments below. You can also leave me your favorite SpongeBob songs as well. Aside from Sweet Victory, I like Striped Sweater and Ripped Pants. What about you?
