Have you seen the latest designs from Michael Whelan yet?
We can’t say enough about the Grand Master artist who chose to bring his legendary artwork to our collection. Michael Whelan has been a member of the Inked Gaming artist community since 2020 and over these past couple of years, we’ve been fortunate enough to feature some of his best work on a countless number of premium products that we produce. Having Michael’s work on our products is something we are very proud of, especially given where his art has been and what it’s meant to so many avid fantasy/sci-fi readers around the world.
Yes, if you look at Michael’s expansive body of work, you’ll see that most of the designs have made their way onto the covers of several bestselling books, written by gifted authors like Brandon Sanderson, Tad Williams, Stephen King, and many more. We may not be published authors here on Team Inked, but we’re proud to have Michael’s permission to print his work on our plethora of pieces.
What began as just a small sampling of Michael’s designs that were available on playmats and mousepads, has now grown into a full-blown treasure trove that now includes dice bags, day totes, gaming crates, and tapestries. And it's recently grown even larger.
For those who weren’t already aware, Michael Whelan’s artist page has a few new faces that may look familiar to anyone who has read epic fantasy novels from the Otherland series, the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, and/or The Wheel of Time series. If you have seen the covers of some of the titles in these series, then you probably have an idea of what these new designs look like.
Sure, Michael’s designs look amazing on whatever they’re printed on, especially book covers, but there’s nothing like seeing them come to life on the various pieces of gaming gear that we craft in-house. Our customers have even come to appreciate having Michael’s work as the backdrop for their favorite games. But don’t just take our word for it, see for yourself.
Want to see more? We don’t blame you. In fact, with the additional Wargaming mats, Two-Player mats, and Poster Tapestries that are in this latest lineup as well, we encourage you to stop by Michael’s page before you leave. Also, there are a few new puzzles that now have Michael’s designs printed on them. You should check those out too if you’re a fan of his Moreta, Way of Kings, and Words of Radiance art.
