Artist Spotlight: Allanvre

Oh, it’s good to be back! After a bit of a hiatus, we’ve decided to revamp a popular blog series that allows our fellow gamers to learn more about the artists behind the designs that are featured on our playmats, mousepads, dice bags, day totes, and more.

Those who have been frequent visitors to our blog page for the past few years should know what this series is all about. However, if you’re new to this Artist Spotlight series, here’s how it works: We choose one designer from our artist community that we want to learn more about and ask them 10 questions.

It’s best if you think of it as an interview, just without the cameras and microphones. These questions are meant to give you a more in-depth look at each artist and find out what sparks their creative spirit. We also have a couple of quirky questions that we couldn’t help but ask, which you’ll see towards the end.

To kick this series off, once again, we have Allanvre as our featured artist. Allanvre is a gifted designer who has delivered some of the richest and most vibrant pieces we’ve ever seen. And after getting to know them a bit better through this interview, we’re proud to have their work printed on our collection of goods.

We started with the basic questions.

Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Allanvre, and I smear digital colors around to make pretty things!

CULTIVATING IMAGINATION

What inspires you?

I’m most inspired by the beauty of women and natural landscapes. I find myself captivated by the relationship between people and their own story; how their growth shapes their character. I find life to be an intriguing challenge for us as individuals, because of how we all adapt to our experience and navigate it uniquely.

What are some hobbies you do when you’re not making art?

If there’s anything better than relaxing by a natural body of water while delighting in sunlight, it’s being at the game table in good company. In all honesty, I have more hobbies than I can fully indulge. There’s a lot that I enjoy, and never enough time in the day.

NIGHTMARE HARVESTER

What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?

You don’t have to fight the universe. The creation of inner peace is an assertive action of acceptance. Forgive the universe, grieve the fairness and nurture that could have been but was not, and love existence just like you love the “imperfections” of a cherished pet.

What would your perfect Saturday be like?

Well, my perfect Saturday would be a 120-hour day that takes place in a literal utopia of fruit trees within walking distance of the ocean. Where I’d bliss the “F” out with loved ones in sunlight that never burns my dainty skin. But realistically, it’s tea time all the time on Saturday!

NEBULA THE LIVING UNIVERSE

A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a little hat. What do they say and why are they here?

The penguin is here right now, actually. He is a time traveler, warning me not to start a “jetpacks for flightless birds” charity. Apparently, future me wants to give every bird a fair chance to fly, which results in complete disaster.

How do you know when your art is finished (if ever)?

I have no idea, my relentless muse decides for me. It’s not a matter of free will. But I have to choose to step away from creative processes or I could write and paint my hours into oblivion.

IN THE MAGIC FOREST

You’re a new addition to the crayon box... What color would you be and why?

I would like to think my crayon would be Neon Unicorn Glitter, because I would like to think of myself as having a sparkling magical inner diva. But, more realistically, it might be End-slice, like the slice of bread at the end of the loaf that nobody wants.

What's your favorite genre of music to jam out to?

There’s always room for piano music.

Where can we find more of your awesome artwork?

I’ll gladly link you to my portfolio :) you can message me for commissions via socials such as instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. https://allanvre.wixsite.com/allanvre/illustration-1
