THE WEEKLY WAVE

Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

D&D comes to VR!

No need to pinch yourself, this is not a dream and no longer just a rumor. Recently, Wizards of the Coast and Resolution Games announced their partnership and will look to create an official VR D&D title sometime in the near future. No dates or details have been given yet, but both sides are keen to bring rich D&D adventures to life, literally before our eyes!

Resolution Games is a Swedish studio that specializes in VR games, with Demeo being their most successful. Once the collaboration was forged, founder and CEO Tommy Palm made a statement saying:

“Dungeons and Dragons offers one of the richest fantasy worlds that has ever been created, and it only gets bigger with every new sourcebook and adventure. We’re beyond humbled to have the opportunity to work with such an incredible IP and look forward to sharing the first details of this new project in the future.”

No other info has been offered so far, which means fans will just have to use their imaginations for the time being. If you’re a DM, this shouldn’t be too hard, especially if you consider all the endless possibilities. For now, all we have to go on is Resolution’s solid track record and WOTC’s yearning to make D&D more than just a tabletop experience.

We’ll keep our eyes and ears open on this one, and suggest that you do the same!

Join the Yu-Gi-Oh! Quarter Century Celebration marathon!

With Yu-Gi-Oh’s! 25th anniversary in full swing, Konami is looking to go all out in 2024, and earlier this week, they announced a massive livestream marathon that’s set to go live in just a few weeks. They’re calling it the Quarter Century Celebration. This livestream marathon event will span two days and invite players/fans to celebrate 25 years of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Quarter Century Celebration

How do you celebrate a quarter-century of iconic characters, duels, and anime adventures? Well, by bringing them to life for those who loved them most. According to Konami, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Quarter Century Celebration will feature three Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournaments and 32 hours of episodes from the anime series, hence the marathon.

The three tournaments will be as follows:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel 2nd Anniversary Invitational 2024
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links 7th Anniversary Invitational 2024
  • Undisputed Yu-Gi-Oh! Ultimate Duelist Series Championship

We don’t know about you, but this is one celebration that we plan on being a part of from the first minute to the last. Speaking of, Konami has announced that The Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game Quarter Century Celebration will begin on February 16 at 12 pm ET and last until February 18. You can catch the stream via Konami’s Twitch and YouTube platforms.

We’ll see you there!
