THE WEEKLY WAVE

Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection!

The 25th Anniversary celebration just keeps on rolling, and Konami is doing all it can to make this milestone year even more special for fans. Earlier this week, it was announced that the Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection will be coming to both PC and Nintendo Switch. Of course, the initial release will begin in Japan, but we can expect the collection to make its way to other regions soon after.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection

No dates or other details have been confirmed yet, however, we do have a good idea of which games this Early Days Collection will contain. Again, nothing is in stone, but Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelist and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2 are just a couple of titles that have come up more than once.

Konami will start to pull back the curtains more and more as we inch closer to the release. Until then, we’ll keep our ears open for more updates and announcements as they are revealed.

Pokémon plans to reprint a rare Pikachu card!

You may remember last year, Pokémon partnered up with the Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands to bring an awesome collection to life. The partnership seeked to merge Pokémon with some of Vincent van Gogh’s most amazing artworks, in order to create a dazzling new experience for fans. Unfortunately, the venture was short-lived and one highly sought-after card was discontinued.

In the wake of the chaotic events that took place at the museum, the super rare Pikachu Van Gogh Pokémon card was no longer available to fans. For those who don’t know, this was a promo card that was given free to anyone who made a purchase from the museum. Soon after the card’s rarity was established, scalpers began to take over the museum, which led to chaos inside the museum. The exhibit was shut down and Pokémon has since apologized.

Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat

Recently, Pokémon announced that the treasured Pikachu Van Gogh Pokémon card (aka Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat) is set to make a return. The plan is to reprint these rare promo cards and distribute them to various chain stores throughout Amsterdam. This will then reduce scalping and therefore the price of scalped cards that were obtained in 2023.

The word is that 100,000 of these cards would be reprinted and restocked in various stores, including:

  • Bruna
  • Game Mania
  • Intertoys
  • Media Markt
  • Primera
  • Top1Toys
  • Smyths Toys Superstores

So, if you want this rare Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, just head over to one of these locations, the next time you’re in Amsterdam, and spend at least €29.99 on TCG goods.
