What's going on with our pricing?! An open discussion about recent changes to our product and shipping costs

Let’s be honest, things have been kinda crazy lately. In fact, some may even describe it as a Rubik’s cube that has a tendency to fight back just when you think the colors are starting to line up. It seems that everyone has felt the complexity and adversity of recent times, especially small businesses like us. So, as much as we try to resist certain large changes, we too had to make a few adjustments to our game plan.

These adjustments were necessary in order to keep pace with the ever-changing market and world that’s surrounding us this year. You may have noticed a steady increase in pricing/costs pretty much everywhere you turn over the last few months. Inflation is never fun for anyone, but it’s something that we all must be prepared for when it rears its head.

Here at Inked Gaming, we pride ourselves on both production and competitive pricing. As we’ve been saying since this journey first began: we want to give gamers the best shopping/buying experience for the best price. To this day, this is still one of our primary objectives. However,

to account for rising product and shipping costs on our end, we’ve had to make some tweaks to the pricing aspect of our services. And that’s why the prices on some of our products have increased over the last few weeks.

Yes, if you look around our site, you’ll come across a wide selection of items that now have higher prices attached to them. But, you will also come across some that have stayed the same or even lowered. Although we knew we had to make pricing changes on some of our more popular products when the inflation hit us, we wanted to do everything we could to balance out the changes so that the increase didn’t entirely fall into your wallet.

To help counteract the price increases that we were required to make to stay a  profitable business, we’ve decreased our free US shipping threshold to just $20.00. That means when you buy a standard playmat, extended mousepad, or any of our popular products that cost  $20+, standard US shipping will be covered by us. Of course, you can still always choose a faster shipping method if you need it, but standard US shipping will be free if you want it.

We would like to note that even with these slightly higher prices, the new shipping threshold actually allows you to come away spending less than you would have with our previous price and shipping structure. For example, if you bought a playmat before this price increase, it would have cost $24.99 and an extra $6.95 for shipping, bringing the total to just about $31.94. Right now, standard playmats cost $29.95 and qualify for free shipping. So, this means that the total cost of ordering your playmat is actually about two dollars cheaper today than it was last month.

With that in mind, we would also like to point out that we actually lowered the price on other items too, like our smaller classic mousepads, which dropped to $9.95 from $11.99. We decided to lower prices on some items like this because it’s below the $20-dollar shipping threshold.  You’ll need to pay the standard $6.95 shipping cost for that item anyway, so we lowered our margin on the actual to help account for that.

That all being said, for many other items like sleeves, mat bags, and dice bags, pricing really hasn’t changed. The only difference is that with the lower free shipping threshold, you could potentially qualify for free shipping with just 1 or 2 products in your cart, whereas before you might have needed 3 or 4.

Again, with the market the way it is now, inflation is almost inevitable for small businesses like ours, which is why we have to work even harder to not only stay competitive, but flexible. It’s this flexibility that’s allowed us to maintain some prices, after raising others, and add a lower free shipping threshold to the mix that provides some relief.

As always, we appreciate your support and understanding during this time. We want to be fully transparent and honest with you, so we felt like we had to let you in on what’s been happening behind the scenes and why our prices have been higher or otherwise changing lately.

In the meantime, we ask that you continue to use Inked Gaming as your one-stop-shop supplier for premium gaming gear and wish you the best of luck on your journey!
