The Weekly Wave

Welcome back to Inked Gaming’s Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!

Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series is premiering on Netflix!

Pokémon International recently announced that the Pokémon Ultimate Journeys series will premiere episodes on Netflix this month. Pokémon actually posted a special reveal trailer earlier this week on YouTube, and look awesome. If you haven’t seen it yet (or you’re new to the series itself), you should definitely have a look. You can watch the trailer HERE!

The first 12 episodes of the series will be aired on Netflix on October 21st. Three more episodes will then be released on Netflix in 2023. We’ll get more details on exact dates and episodes sometime next year as well. In case you didn’t know, this third season is the 25th season of the beloved Pokémon animated series, which features our favorite characters: Ash, Goh, Chloe, and others.

So, if you have Netflix, be sure to keep the 21st marked on your calendar.

New MTG bans handed down to key cards!

If you’ve been playing in the Standard Format, you know how powerful and dominant black decks can be. This dominance has caused controversy and much aggravation among players who don’t have black cards in their deck, which is why MTG has been looking to make a shift in the format. And for them, the best way to shake/shift things up is to create a ban list. Since it’s been one of the most powerful cards in the black deck, MTG recently decided to ban the dreaded Meathook Massacre from the Standard Format.

Meathook Massacre

It’s kind of weird timing for the Meathook Massacre to meet the hook, so to speak, especially during the season of fright. Actually, out of all the cards in the black deck, this was the only black card to be banned…so far. Ian Duke, MTG’s head of development, was quoted saying:

“We decided that banning The Meathook Massacre was the best choice, as it's one of the most powerful black cards in the format, and especially powerful against specific archetypes. It has had its time to shine in Standard for over a year.”

We’re not sure if any more black cards are on the endangered list, so we’ll keep our eyes open for more updates on that. However, there has been another significant ban, this one in the Modern format. News recently broke that WOTC has officially banned the companion card Yorion, Sky Nomad.

Yorion, Sky Nomad

Unlike some of the previous bans we’ve seen lately, this one is not so much about the power of the card, but rather how it consistently manages to slow down the game itself. According to Duke, the card was also banned for game-balance purposes as well.

If you hear of any other significant bans coming down over these next few weeks, please be sure to let us know in the comments below.

Have you voted for your favorite Halloween art yet?

Just a reminder, our 2022 Halloween Art Contest is in full swing, and we’re calling on the Inked Gaming community to submit their votes while there’s still time. Our in-house team of designers has whipped up a fresh batch of scary-good art that we’re super excited to showcase. It’s always awesome to see new art from our team, but there’s nothing like seeing Halloween designs that look like these.

More to life

Halloween Grave

After weeks of stirring their creative cauldron, the art team has once again delivered designs that put us all in the Halloween spirit. Just like last year, we want to know which art our followers favor most, so we put on a friendly contest that we would like to see everyone participate in. So far, we’ve already received an awesome amount of votes, and we like to see more come through before the contest closes.

We’ve also got some nice treats in our bag of tricks this year, including a fun mystery bundle that comes with a playmat and mat bag combo. The playmat features stitched edging and a random Halloween contest design, while the mat bag features a mystery-themed pattern. These bundles will be available for purchase throughout the contest. However, once the contest is concluded, we will select one random person from our list of voters and send them one of these mystery bundles for FREE.

You still have until October 31st to submit your vote!

That’s all for now! Stay tuned for our next edition of The Weekly Wave for more fun stories and updates!

Sincerely,

Inked Gaming
