The Weekly Wave
Welcome back to the Weekly Wave! Let’s see what news, updates, and announcements have risen to the surface this week!
Pokémon GO Grubbin Community Day!
Another Pokémon GO Community Day is coming up, and it sounds like Trainers can look forward to some Grubbin good fun! During this event, players can expect to find Grubbin more frequently in the wild, making it easier to catch and collect its candy. Additionally, there may be a chance to encounter Shiny Grubbin.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a community day event without some evolution. So, those who evolve Grubbin into Charjabug and then into Vikavolt will score an evolved Pokémon equipped with the Electric-type Fast Move Volt Switch. You’ll have to evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt within the first few hours of the event if you want this evolved Pokémon.
When the event goes live, you will want to grab all the Grubbin Candy available in order to evolve it. Once this Grubbin Community Day concludes, Trainers can gear up for some special 4-Star Raid Battles with Charjabug. Participating in these Raid Battles will trigger an additional perk: a surge in Grubbin spawns in the vicinity of the Gym for 30 minutes.
Grubbin Community Day is set to launch on September 23, 2023 and will last from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. So, if you’re good to GO for some Saturday afternoon fun, be sure to check it out and snag all the in-game Grubbin Candy you can. You can find more details HERE!
Stolen Magic: The Gathering Cards have been recovered!
If you’ve been following all the news happening in the MTG/TCG world, you probably heard about the brazen heist that took place during the Gen Con event in Indianapolis last month. The two alleged bandits were filmed by surveillance cameras as they made off with $300,000 worth of Magic: The Gathering cards. After the news went viral, there were many who feared that these precious MTG treasures were gone for good.
However, in a thrilling turn of events, law enforcement authorities have successfully recovered those cards and are being returned to the state of Indiana. That’s right, after the heist, the cards were taken out of state and finally recovered by police officials in New York City. Last week, the cards arrived back in Indianapolis, where they are being held as evidence while charges are brought against the robbers.
The two have been identified as board game designers. Both are from New York and remain the only suspects/persons of interest in the case. While the investigation is still technically open and ongoing, Marion County is expected to file charges very soon. We’ll see how the case pans out.
On a lighter note, it’s good to see those MTG cards recovered safely and returned to their home. Hopefully, this story sends a message that such actions will have consequences and law enforcement will use all their wizardry and abilities to bring stolen cards back where they belong!
