MTG's Street Fighter Crossover

The new MTG Street Fighter Secret Lair crossover cards were revealed on February 18th, and the time to pre-order them is now! We actually covered the news of this crossover back in 2021. At the time, MTG had announced an upcoming crossover with both Street Fighter and Fortnite.

As I pointed out in that blog, MTG’s Street Fighter Secret Lair couldn’t come at a more appropriate time, since 2022 marks Street Fighter’s 35th Anniversary. After much anticipation and build-up, the crossover is finally here…sort of.

This latest Secret Lair drop contains eight cards, all of which feature the same iconic characters that made the original Capcom video game so popular for gamers. Here’s a list of the cards that the set contains:

  • E. Honda, Sumo Champion
  • Ryu, World Warrior
  • Ken, Burning Brawler
  • Blanka, Ferocious Friend
  • Chun-Li, Countless Kicks
  • Dhalsim, Pliable Pacifist
  • Guile, Sonic Soldier
  • Zangief, the Red Cyclone

These eight cards have both Regular and Foil editions, and based on what we’ve seen so far...they look every bit as cool as I thought they would. Let’s just say that they certainly pack a punch. The image below is from MTG’s official Secret Lair site and shows all eight cards together. I also added in a few closeups of my favorites, that way you get a better look at the details. Check it out:

You can see all the cards in the set and get more details on each by clicking HERE. On that same page, you will also be able to pre-order your set before the clock runs out. Yes, the time element is very real and is quickly ticking away for those who wish to get theirs ordered early before the frenzy begins on July 29th.

July 29th is the official release date for this Secret Lair set, and I'm predicting quite a busy day for those who didn’t jump at the opportunity to secure their purchases now. MTG made pre-ordering available for this Street Fighter crossover available on February 18th, and as of today, there are still a couple of weeks left before it closes. March 18th is the last day to put your pre-order in.

Anyone who read through my first MTG Street Fighter blog may remember that I briefly covered the mechanics of the cards themselves. But for those who didn’t, here’s some more info. The cards in this set have been given unique mechanics that are meant to recapture the same actions that each character had in the original 1987 game. So, MTG really wanted to nail both the look and feel of each character in their own right, which I think they have done beautifully. But, I would like to get your opinion of them as well.

Again, you can pre-order your Foil (available for $49.99) or Regular (available for $39.99) Street Fighter set today by heading over to MTG’s Secret Lair Drop site. Whether you have put your order in already or are waiting for the official release day, I want to hear your thoughts on this new MTG Street Fighter crossover set. Let me know what you think of the cards and if MTG did as good a job as I think they did. As always, you can sound off in the comments below!

Until we meet again,

Vince The Prince
